What Do Mystery Shoppers Do?
Our Mystery Shoppers, also known as
secret shoppers, play a crucial role in helping businesses evaluate and
improve their customer service and overall operational performance.
Here
at JKS we have a wide range of clients not just retail stores. For
instance, you may be surveying a supermarket demonstrator, a new home
sales office, a charity fundraiser, a local authority, a care home, a
child’s nursery, a car show room, music venue.
Assignments can involve in person visits, phone calls, emails, chats, and online surveys.
Your
role is to give accurate feedback of your experience, which can then be
used to train staff and develop a business. It is about congratulating
a business and staff when they perform well and helping them to
understand where improvements could be made.
Your role as a mystery shopper is to:
- provide unbiased insights into how customers are treated;
- to identify areas where staff training may be needed;
- highlight
any operational issues that can be addressed to improve efficiency and
ensure employees adhere to company policies and legal requirements.
Who can become a Mystery Shopper?
Mystery
Shoppers are based throughout the UK. They can be students, retirees,
stay at home parents, full time workers - in fact anyone seeking an
extra income. Mystery shopping can be fitted around your life
commitments. If you meet our basic requirements and have the necessary
skills, you can potentially become a mystery shopper.
There are several essential skills and traits that we always look for in a mystery shopper:
Reliability: Being dependable and punctual is crucial. Our shoppers must complete assignments within given timeframes and follow instructions precisely.
Attention to detail:
Our shoppers must have excellent observational skills and report back
on all the details we require. We provide a shopper brief and report
questionnaire. It is essential that these are studied before you
undertake your survey.
Communication Skills: Both written and verbal communication skills are important for interacting with staff and documenting the experience. Clear and concise reporting is essential. Shoppers must be able to articulate their experiences and observations effectively in a written report. They must have a highstandard of written English and be able to write detailed comments.
Objectivity:
Maintaining an unbiased perspective is important. Shoppers should
report their experiences accurately without letting personal opinions
colour their assessments.
Good Memory: Remembering details from the shopping experience, such as names, interactions, and specific observations, is critical.
Tech-Savvy:
Familiarity with basic technology, such as using smartphones for
recording, taking photos, and accessing our online reporting portal.
Discretion: The ability to perform tasks without drawing attention or revealing the mystery shopping purpose.
